OEM & ODM Window
Covering Manufacturer
-- Private Label Supply
Custom colors, hardware options, branded packaging and new-product development for brands that want differentiation beyond OEM assembly. Plantation shutters, venetian blinds and window shades -- all from a single vertically integrated factory in Xiamen.
OEM vs ODM vs
Private Label
These three terms are often used interchangeably, but they represent different levels of customisation commitment and IP ownership. The table below clarifies what each model means at Goodwood, so you can choose the right engagement type for your brand strategy.
| Capability / Commitment | OEM | ODM Popular | Private Label |
|---|---|---|---|
| Product specification ownership | Client-supplied | Co-developed | Client-supplied or co-developed |
| Custom PVC die tooling | |||
| Custom colour development | Limited (standard palette) | ||
| Branded packaging & inserts | Full integration | ||
| New product R&D support | On request | ||
| Regional exclusivity option | Volume-dependent | ||
| Typical development timeline | 20-30 days (shutters & blinds) | 8-16 weeks incl. prototyping | +2-4 weeks on base lead time |
Four Dimensions
of Differentiation
Because Goodwood controls PVC extrusion, CNC machining, coating and assembly in-house, customisation is a standard production activity -- not a special-order premium charged on top of unit price.
Colour Customisation
Paint · Stain · Laminate · AnodisingGoodwood operates three automated water-based coating lines capable of matching custom colour references (RAL, NCS, or client-supplied physical samples). For wood and PVC shutters, custom stain penetration depths and topcoat sheens are achievable in standard production runs -- not just prototype quantities.
- RAL / NCS / Pantone colour matching on request
- Matte, satin and gloss topcoat options across product lines
- UV anti-yellowing test on every colour batch -- not sampled
- Powder coating for aluminium frames on-site
Production note: Minimum colour run quantities apply. Cross-batch colour consistency is maintained through batch-coded paint records retained for re-order matching.
Hardware Customisation
Hinges · Tilt Rods · Frames · ActuatorsHardware selection is a primary differentiator in the shutter market. Goodwood offers branded tilt rod styles, hinge profiles, frame extrusion cross-sections and hidden-tilt actuator configurations -- all produced or sourced and finished in-house to match your colour system.
- Custom tilt rod profiles (centre, hidden, motorised)
- Proprietary frame extrusion profiles -- 50+ die tooling in-house
- Hinge style and finish matching across panel and frame
- Smart-home actuator integration -- designed to support major protocols
Design note: New extrusion die tooling incurs a one-time tooling cost. Once commissioned, dies are retained exclusively for the commissioning brand for the duration of the partnership.
Packaging Design
Carton · Inserts · Swatches · ManualsPackaging is often the most visible brand touchpoint at point-of-sale and at installation. Goodwood manages all packaging production coordination -- from structural carton engineering for safe transit through to printed inserts, branded foam inlays, swatch cards and installation booklets -- all produced to your supplied artwork files.
- Full outer carton print (CMYK or Pantone spot colour)
- Branded installation guides (A5 or A4, multi-language available)
- Physical swatch sets in your format and nomenclature
- Compression and drop testing per transit route requirements
Artwork note: Goodwood requires print-ready artwork files (PDF/AI at 300 dpi). We can coordinate with your design agency directly to resolve technical print specifications.
New Product Development
Brief → Prototype → ProductionFor brands entering a new category or seeking to develop a product that does not yet exist in the market, Goodwood's engineering team works from a written brief through to prototype and pre-production sampling. The full manufacturing infrastructure -- CNC machining, extrusion, coating and assembly -- is available for development runs without minimum batch constraints at the prototype stage.
- Brief review and feasibility assessment (typically 5-7 business days)
- Engineering drawings and 3D CAD review before tooling commitment
- Iterative prototype revision cycles with documented change log
- Pre-production pilot run and final client sign-off before batch production
Timeline note: Full ODM development from brief to approved production sample typically spans 8-16 weeks depending on tooling requirements and revision cycles. We will provide a project schedule at brief review stage.
