ANSI/WCMA A100.1 governs voluntary safety standards in North America; the CPSC actively enforces recall and import restriction authority; EN 13120 sets EU and UK performance requirements for internal blinds. Our cordless blind and shade designs are engineered with awareness of the operational and loop-elimination principles that underpin these frameworks. Buyers are responsible for confirming that any product selected meets the current regulatory requirements applicable in their specific market at the time of sale.

REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) applies to products placed on the EU and UK market and restricts a range of substances of very high concern (SVHCs). California Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. Our coating and PVC compound selection processes are carried out with awareness of the restricted substance categories these frameworks address. We use water-based coatings across our finishing lines in part because of their more favourable chemical profile compared to solvent-based alternatives.

CARB Phase II and its federal counterpart TSCA Title VI set formaldehyde emission limits for composite wood products -- relevant to any wood-based window covering component that uses adhesives or bonded composite cores. Goodwood's solid-wood shutter components (basswood, pine, paulownia) are machined from solid timber rather than composite board, which is a material distinction our buyers operating in California and the broader US market should understand. Where any composite wood elements are used in accessories or sub-components, our procurement process gives preference to materials aligned with these emission thresholds.

The US Lacey Act, the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR, now transitioning to EUDR), and the UK Timber Regulation all require importers and first-placers-on-market to exercise due diligence to ensure timber products originate from legally harvested sources. Goodwood's timber procurement practice involves working with established suppliers and maintaining species and origin documentation. Our FSC-certified pine line provides the most robust chain-of-custody documentation available in our current range. For non-FSC wood species (basswood, paulownia, ash), we can provide supplier documentation to support your due diligence process -- the adequacy of that documentation for your specific regulatory context should be assessed by your compliance team.
